Public Notice – Township of Manitouwadge Municipal Council Vacancy

TAKE NOTICE that a vacancy exists on the Township of Manitouwadge Council for one (1) Councillor Position. Council has determined that it wishes to fill this vacancy by appointment through a Call for Applications for Appointment in accordance with the Township of Manitouwadge Council Vacancy Policy.

Term of Office: From January 13, 2026 (Council appointment) until November 14, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements (Municipal Elections Act, 1996):

– 18 years of age or older

– Canadian citizen

– Resident of the Township of Manitouwadge, or an owner/tenant of land in the Township (or spouse of such)

– Not prohibited from voting under any other Act or disqualified from holding municipal office

Application Process:

Qualified persons must complete a Council Vacancy Application Form and a Declaration of Qualification with the Clerk’s Office. Applications will be accepted until January 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Municipal Office, 1 Mississauga Drive.

Clerk’s Office Hours:

– By Appointment → Mon–Thu: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; Fri: 9:00–10:00 a.m.

– Drop-In → Mon–Thu: 1:00–4:00 p.m.; Fri: 10:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Clerk’s Office Closed Dec 19, 2025 – Jan 4, 2026 (reopens Jan 5, 2026)

Candidates may also submit a personal statement of qualification (max 2 pages, including name and address). Certified registered candidates will have the opportunity to address Council for up to 5 minutes at the Public Meeting on January 13, 2026, 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall.

Filling of Council Vacancy Schedule:

– Dec 9, 2025 – Declaration of vacancy and method of appointment selected

– Dec 10, 2025 – Advertising of application process begins

– Jan 7, 2026 – Application deadline at 2:00 p.m.

– Jan 8, 2026 – Deadline to withdraw application (10:00 a.m.)

– Jan 8, 2026 – Clerk certifies qualified candidates & posts Special Council meeting agenda

– Jan 13, 2026 – Candidate meeting and selection; successful candidate sworn in
